My Blogging Story

Seven years ago I started my very first blog. I had a lot of time on my hands before the new school year started. A friend of mine discovered Blogger and showed it to me one afternoon. Back then, I had no idea what a “Blog” was or how big the blogging community is worldwide. The idea of creating my own website for free intrigued me.

I came home that evening and using my google account I created my own blog. I used to read a lot and decided I would use my blog to write book reviews. It didn’t last long and with school work I never had the amount of time I needed to maintain one. But even though I couldn’t have one of my own at the time I was still curious. I read up on everything I could find on blogging. For some reason the topic interested me and I never forgot about it.

Fast forward to two years later and I had just graduated from high school. I had a few months free before college and had no idea what to do with the sudden free time on my hands. It was then when I remembered about my old blog and I went back to it.

By now I had learnt a lot about blogging and the various platforms that can be used. Blogger was great for me at the start, but I wanted more. I wanted to be able to customize and have more control over the look of my website. This was when I decided to move to WordPress. I made the switch and created my second blog which I used until this month when I decided to go self-hosted.

Blogging is my passion. It helps me grow and makes me happy. Through my blog I have interacted with people from all over the world. It is a lifestyle that I’m sure I will continue for as long as I can.

So here’s to a new blog. A new beginning and another chapter in my blogging story.

What is your blogging story? What got you into blogging?

  1. I love this! Thanks for sharing your story 😊 Kind of how I started my blogging journey as well. I started a blog five or six years ago because I have always loved writing. But it faded away too because of my lack of time, plus I didn’t figure out who my target audience was. But now it’s something I couldn’t do without anymore 🙂

    1. Exactly! When I was on a bit of hiatus before launching this blog I felt incomplete. It gives me something to do and I can’t live without it.

So glad you loved this xx

    1. Not any particular decision as such. I wanted to go self hosted for sometime. It has helped me considerably in terms of views, reach and SEO. Also, I want to earn some sort of revenue through my blog in the long run. Going self hosted makes it easier.
